Description
Cavallucci are chewy anise, almond and candied fruit biscuits that have their origins in the 16th century. The name translates to little horses, however the origin of the name is not clear. Some believe the biscuits served as a nourishing, convenient food on long trips, while other sources suggest a similar biscuit was served to servants who worked in the stables of rich Italian aristocrats. Either way, they make a delicious addition to the Christmas table.
