Description
Chianti Classico San Lorenzo takes its name from the lovely valley that is home to the 18th-century Pianigiani and Ricucci villas. The wine is made entirely with grapes from Castello di Ama vineyards, which are all old plantings or plots planted over a decade ago, and which show the most mature, rounded extracts at time of harvest.
"A bold, racy wine, the 2015 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione San Lorenzo captures all the exuberance of the year while retaining a good bit of structure. Like all the Ama wines, the San Lorenzo packs a serious punch in its dark flavors and intense, muscular feel. The San Lorenzo is essentially a second selection of lots from the dual flagship Gran Seleziones La Casuccia and Bellavista. Lavender, spice and menthol add the closing shades of nuance. The blend is 80% Sangiovese and 20% Merlot and Malvasia Nera. More importantly, the San Lorenzo is another very serious wine in this range." - Antonio Galloni
